Post 5 Religion in World History Honors

Religion

Roman Religion derived mostly from Greek Religion. Both are mostly alike, because they believe in many gods, and each god could control a different part of the world for example:
The Chief God light-father called Jupiter :On to Witness agreements worshipped on hilltops.
Saturn: God of Crops
Venus :Goddess Of Craftsmen and their guilds
Entertained temples and rituals for benefits of the greater gods.

Engineering


The Romans were exceptionally great in engineering which is the application of science and mathematics. Roman built roads, harbors and bridges they built were strongly built even after the fall of the empire. The Romans left scientific information for the Greeks. In Alexandna, Egypt , Hellenistic Scientists exchanged ideas, He was there astronomer mathematician Ptolemy had a theory that earth was the very center of the universe. Romans did little research but they did apply geography to make maps, and medical knowledge to help the public health.


ENTERTAINMENT


Romans had many ways of entertaining themselves :
*going to theaters plays.
*Circuses
*Races to amphith eaters and gladiators

Ludi was a word used by the Romans to define free entertainment at the expense of the state. Plays have certain categories such as:
*Comedies
*Tragedies
*Pantomines

Each race contained seven laps each..Each lap was around 2000 feet.
There was six racing teams:
Red, white, republic, blue, and Augustus.
